Stony Brook Southampton Hospital Updates Visitors Policy

Thu, 05/06/2021 - 09:11

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital has announced new inpatient visitation guidelines, allowing the admission of visitors “at the discretion of hospital staff,” according to an announcement posted on its website.

One visitor, 18 years or older, is allowed per patient during either of two windows of time, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m.

Hospital rules stipulate all visitors must adhere to screening, handwashing, and infection control guidelines, meaning facemasks at all times and no eating or drinking in patients’ rooms.

Visiting Covid-19 patients is still not permitted, but virtual visitation is set up by staff. The Department of Health allows a support person for any patients in the labor and delivery ward or pediatrics, as well as those with medical need for a support person, disability, dementia, or those in end-of-life situations.
