African-American Genealogy on Saturday

Thu, 02/27/2020 - 09:10

For those eager to go deeper into family histories, the Suffolk County Historical Museum in Riverhead will host a program on African-American genealogy on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Saturday’s speaker, Sandi Brewster-Walker, is a historian and genealogist who has done extensive research into Long Island’s past. She was Deputy Director of the Office of Communications in the Department of Agriculture in the Clinton administration. She will discuss sources of information for African-Americans seeking to know more about their genealogies, understanding data, and keeping it all organized. The program is for beginning and advanced genealogists alike.

Registration has been asked by phone at 631-727-2881, press 2 for reception. The talk is free for museum members, $5 for nonmembers. Refreshments will be served, and the registration fee will include admission to the museum exhibits.
