Former President Donald Trump will be traveling to Bridgehampton Friday afternoon, and Southampton Town has warned of extensive road closures and heavy gridlock as his motorcade makes its way from Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach to Bridgehampton.

Southampton Town Police Lt. Todd Spencer confirmed that the road closures will begin between 4 and 5 p.m. Friday, and will continue until around 8 p.m. The areas that will be affected are Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Shinnecock Hills, North Sea, Water Mill, and Bridgehampton. For those who are planning to be on the road Friday afternoon into the evening have been advised by the town to avoid those areas and use alternate routes.

Also originally set to visit the South Fork Friday was Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. According to reporting from CNBC, the governor was attend a meet-and-greet with top Democratic Party donors at the home of the P.R. executive Mike Kempler in Water Mill, but a report later on Thursday in The Daily Beast said that he had called off his fund-raising visit here. Governor Shapiro is rumored to be among the top contenders to be Kamala Harris’s running mate, a choice she is reportedly planning to make next week in Philadelphia.
