New in Montauk

Montauk Project has taken over the restaurant on Fort Pond Road formerly occupied by Roberta’s, and, before that, Arbor, with a promise to deliver “an unrivaled dining experience, complete with live music and an atmosphere catering to both locals and the summer crowd.”

The owners are Bryan Seekamp, an East Hampton native whose family counted Brent’s General Store and the Beach Hut at Atlantic Avenue Beach among its businesses, and Sam Berkson, who managed the Goldbar in Lower Manhattan.

Jesse Freijo, the chef, has worked at Cru Oyster Bar on Nantucket, and for Daniel Boulud.

The menu includes raw bar options; appetizers such as fried artichoke, fluke crudo, and meatballs; pizzas, and main courses that include steak frites, eggplant parmesan, and a bone-in veal chop. A chipwich, strawberry shortcake, and a chocolate eclair are some of the dessert offerings.

Montauk Project is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Also in Montauk, Duke’s has opened at 440 West Lake Drive. On its Instagram page, the restaurant promises “familiar faces, colorful cocktails, and homestyle cooking.” One of those familiar faces is Shawn Hewitt, who oversees the kitchen.

The spot is open from 4 p.m. to midnight on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from noon to midnight on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The kitchen closes at 10 each night, and there is live music on the patio most evenings. The music lineup and drink and food specials can be found on Duke’s Instagram page.

Tacos, Tequila, and More

Jess Gouws and Gary Spangler, the duo behind Bamboo Southampton and Bamboo Montauk, have opened Uno Mas on Hampton Road in Southampton.

“We are excited to expand outside of the Bamboo franchise and try something a little different,” said the owners. “We have been working on this one for quite some time and when discussing with our head chef, Raul Cruz, it was a no-brainer.” They say a Westhampton Beach location is coming soon.

The menu features tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, chicken enchiladas, and a taco salad. Desserts are cinnamon churros and flan Napolitano, and drinks include soda, beer, and, of course, an extensive selection of tequilas and tequila-based cocktails.

Uno Mas is open Sunday through Thursday from noon to 9, Friday and Saturday from noon to 10.
