Tasting Somm
Whether in the city or out east, a private wine tasting experience is a phone call or email away. Luciana Mota's business Private Sommeliere brings the wine and expertise to your house or any other location of your choosing to hand-craft a personalized experience based on her background in wine and cheese tasting.

After graduating from New York University, Ms. Mota earned a sommelier certification in Switzerland and returned to her native Brazil in 2016 for the Olympics, where she was the exclusive sommelier for the Swiss government. She then opened a successful wine bar there while also serving as brand ambassador for Swiss and Austrian wines. Through these experiences, she has developed specializations in American, Swiss, Austrian, Brazilian, Argentinian, and Chilean wines, gastronomy, and culture. In New York, she focuses on the Finger Lakes region. In France, her focus is on the Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Cote de Rhone, Gaillac, and Languedoc regions. She has also served as a brand ambassador for Italy's most important Prosecco producing region.

Each presentation is customized to the client's taste and budget. She can be reached at 646-338-1503 or on her website, PrivateSommeliere.com.

Sidecar Centenary
September marks the 100th anniversary of the invention of the sidecar cocktail and the North Fork Table and Inn in Southold has devised a twist on one to bring it into the 21st century. The Bramble Sidecar consists of two types of Remy Martin cognac, Montenegro Amaro Italiano liqueur, lemon, bitters, and a homemade cordial made out of blackberries, peppercorns, sugar, water, and orange liqueur. Try it there or play with the ingredients at home to say cheers to 100.

Summer Lovin'
Summer may be winding down, but Roberta's in Montauk will host a sunset "Catch and Release" party on Sunday thrown by Bumble, the social networking platform, and two Lower East Side bars, Ray's and the Flower Shop, from 5 to 9 p.m.

There will be music, specialty drinks, and a chance to connect with people in a comfortable environment. Several D.J.s will offer sets and there will be comedy and other special performances along with custom tattoos by Sophie Bee.

In order to attend, a confirmation email from [email protected] is required. Space is limited.

Fresh Batch
Word from the Springs Brewery is that it has a new batch of Arethusa, which was released last week. It is an I.P.A. brewed with wheat and oats, "hopped and dry hopped with Simcoe, Citra, and Motueka," with can art by Charlie Ly.
