Bacall and Django Festival Allstars at LTV Studios

Tue, 07/08/2025 - 11:11
The Django Festival Allstars will celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt, the influential Romani jazz guitarist and composer, at LTV Studios.

LTV Studios’ Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea will continue Friday at 7:30 p.m. with “Me and Betty,” a performance by Lee Roy Reams during which he reminisces in both story and song about his close relationship with Lauren Bacall.

Born in Kentucky, Mr. Reams was nominated for Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his performance as Billy Lawlor in the original Broadway production of “42nd Street.” He reprised the role four years later on the United States tour of the show.

He was the first gay man to play the openly gay hairdresser Duane Fox in the 1970 Broadway musical and subsequent tour of “Applause,” which starred Bacall as Margo Channing, the character played by Bette Davis in the 1950 film “All About Eve.”

Other Broadway credits include “Oklahoma,” “Hello, Dolly,” “La Cage aux Folles,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Producers.” His concert and cabaret appearances have taken him all over the world and four times to the White House.

Mr. Reams will be accompanied by Alex Rybeck, an arranger, pianist, and music director who has worked on and off Broadway, in cabarets and concert halls, and on recordings, one of which, “To Steve With Love,” earned a Grammy nomination.

Tickets are $60 in advance, $65 at the door, and $100 for cocktail table seating, which includes a drink ticket.

The Django Festival Allstars, who celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt (1910-1953), a Belgian-born Romani jazz guitarist and composer, will be at LTV on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Reinhardt, who was one of the first important jazz talents to emerge in Europe, has influenced such musicians as Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Willie Nelson.

The Allstars have performed at concert halls and festivals around the world, most recently in Fontainebleau, France; Montreal, Baltimore, and a four-day engagement at Dizzy’s Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center).

Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door, and $70 for cafe table seating, which includes a drink.
