“Peony,” a wooden serving tray transformed by Dan Rizzie, will be on auction at the Hamptons Pride benefit at LongHouse Reserve.

Pride Party

Hamptons Pride’s annual outdoor fund-raising party will happen on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton. In addition to dance music by D.J. Watts, a performance by Lynn Blue, summer wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres, the event will include the group’s first silent and live auctions.

Its centerpieces are dozens of everyday wooden serving trays that have been transformed into works of art by 50 local artists, among them Dan Rizzie, Robert Wilson, Almond Zigmund, Dan Welden, Paton Miller, Andrea Cote, Jeremy Dennis, Stephanie Brody-Lederman, John Haubrich, and Aurelio Torres.

Also up for auction are a private cruise for six from SailHamptons; a Motocompacto electric bike donated by Middletown Honda, and a director-led tour of LongHouse, with cocktails, for 10.

General admission is $175.

Naked Airports

Also at LongHouse this weekend is Naked Airports: Design for Air Travel, the venue’s next program in its Long Island Modern Series, on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Alastair Gordon, a critic, cultural historian, author, and filmmaker, will discuss the design history of air travel and how the rapidly evolving technology of aviation inspired a revolution in modern design. LongHouse’s own legacy includes color palettes, interiors, and textile patterns created for Pan Am and Braniff by Jack Lenor Larsen, the venue’s founder.

The program will move from the origins of air travel, which included Charles Lindbergh’s solo flight from Long Island’s Roosevelt Field in 1927, to its golden age in the 1960s and eventual decline.

Mr. Gordon was the organizer of a design competition for the East Hampton Airport in 1989 and wrote “Naked Airport,” a history of aeronautical culture, published by Henry Holt/University of Chicago Press in 2008.

Tickets are $35, $25 for members.

Comedy for a Cause

The Road Forward Scholarship Fund was established to award scholarships to East End high school seniors who are economically challenged and engaged in their community. Twenty-three have been given to deserving students since 2022.

The fund’s third annual benefit will take place Saturday afternoon at 5:30 at LTV Studios in Wainscott, with food and drinks, and stand-up comedy provided by Sticks and Stones Comedy Club. Brad Zimmerman will host and perform excerpts from his one-person show, “My Son the Waiter: A Jewish Tragedy.”

Tickets are $175 and available from roadforwardscholarship.org.
