New Work at Duck Creek

The Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs has added a new ceramic relief by Fitzhugh Karol to his ongoing site-specific outdoor sculpture exhibition, which is on view through mid-December. A reception and tour, starting at 3 p.m., will be held on Saturday.

The artist’s new ceramic works depict a fantastical map of Duck Creek’s property, tracing its architecture, natural features, and sculptures through his distinctive sculptural language. Combining impressions, cut forms, and inscription, the reliefs invite visitors to explore the site as both a landscape and a narrative space.

Mr. Karol will present his work on Nov. 3, at the next Artists and Writers dinner at Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton.

Gallery Tour and Book Launch

Melanie Crader, Guild Hall’s museum director and curator of visual arts, will be joined by Liane Thatcher, Mary Heilmann’s studio director for over 25 years, for a tour of Ms. Heilmann’s exhibition “Water Way” on Sunday morning at 11.

The program coincides with the publication by Hauser & Wirth of “Mary Heilmann: Works on Paper, 1973-2019,” the first monograph dedicated to the artist’s works on paper, many of which are included in the Guild Hall show.

The exhibition tour is $10, $9 for members. Books will be available for $48 signed or $38 unsigned while supplies last, and can be added to the ticket purchase by clicking the “products” tab before checking out.

Print Shop Invitational

The Fourth Annual Bonac Print Shop Invitational, organized by Ryan Sherman, will be at Ashawagh Hall in Springs on Saturday and Sunday, with a reception with live music set for Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will be open for viewing both days from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

First edition, limited edition, and open edition prints will be available for purchase throughout the weekend, with 20 percent of proceeds earmarked for the Springs School PTA’s art program.

Among the more than 40 participating artists are James Katsipis, Richard Mothes, Scott Bluedorn, Lucy Villeneuve, Setha Low, Kara Hoblin, Dalton Portella, Candace Ceslow, and Christopher Lucore.

Exhibition Tour

Kaitlin Halloran and Scout Hutchinson, associate curators at the Parrish Art Museum, will lead a tour of the exhibitions “Endless Limits: The Work of James Howell, 1962-2014” and “Time Exposed: Hiroshi Sugimoto’s Seascapes” on Friday from 3 to 4 p.m.

The artists work in different mediums. Howell’s paintings, prints, and drawings explore the vast tonal range of the color gray, while Mr. Sugimoto’s photographs record the incremental changes around vast bodies of water.

Advance registration has been recommended. Tickets are $30, $24 for senior citizens, $22 for members’ guests, $12 for resident benefits passholders, and free for members, students, and children.

Outdoor Art Workshops

The Nature Conservancy in New York, in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, has announced two upcoming free workshops to be held outdoors at the Andy Warhol Preserve in Montauk.

In Colors of the Living World, on Nov. 1 from noon to 3, Alia Knowlan will teach participants how to create inks and paints out of plants. In a 100-percent biodegradable process, students will mix plant matter with water and a sap-based binder to make a watercolor. The ink’s color can be changed using bio-based modifiers such as vinegar or baking soda.

Threads of Nature: Observing Birds Through Art, set for Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be led by Eleanor Kagan, who will take students on a bird walk around the preserve. Participants will observe and record what they see, through blind contour drawings, quick sketches, notes, lists, or simple attention. Those observations will then be used to inspire bird portraits on fabric.

Registration is on the website of the Nature Conservancy New York.

Workshop and Talk

Barbara Thomas, an artist and educator based in Springs, will be at Third House, Montauk, on Friday from 10 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. to lead a sketchbook workshop. Participants have been asked to take a sketchbook and paints. The cost is $50; registration is at thirdhousenaturecenter.org.

Ms. Thomas will return to Third House on Sunday afternoon at 5 for a free slide lecture and demonstration on the History of Nature Painting.
