Academy Dinner
It's not too late to snag a ticket to Guild Hall's 38th annual Academy of the Arts Achievement Awards Dinner, to be held on Wednesday at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan. The event will honor Daryl Roth, a producer of over 90 shows on and off Broadway, with the award for performing arts. One highlight of the evening will be a performance by Bernadette Peters.

Nancy and Howard Marks will receive a special award for leadership and philanthropy.

The academy has announced the addition to its membership of Uri Berliner, Cynthia Daniels, Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Sunny Hostin, Fern Mallis, Susan Meiselas, Carl Safina, Marcus Samuelsson, Hank Willis Thomas, Rufus Wainwright, and Carrie Mae Weems.

Tickets to the awards dinner, available on Guild Hall's website, start at $1,700, $750 for those 21 to 40.

Amram at The Church
Encomiums for David Amram, who has over 70 years of career experience, include this from Bob Sherman of The New York Times: "If you have not yet encountered this extraordinary man of music, you will marvel at his multiple gifts as a composer, conductor, and solo instrumentalist."

Those lucky enough to have scored a ticket will spend an evening with Mr. Amram at The Church in Sag Harbor on Saturday at 6, for a performance of his classical jazz compositions, accompanied by anecdotes about his experience working with a plethora of creative legends.

As expected, the show has sold out well in advance.
