The Church in Sag Harbor is hitting the road, twice, with art-centered excursions to the North Fork on Sept. 18 and to the Whitney Museum and Chelsea on Oct. 16.

Travelers to the North Fork will meet at The Church at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and a snack before heading out by bus or boat. At 10:30, participants will tour a farm, then sketch and draw in the open fields along with Eric Fischl and April Gornik. All supplies, including sketchbooks, pencils, and chairs will be provided, and all skill levels will be welcomed.

Lunch at Noah's in Greenport, set for noon, will be followed at 2:20 by a guided tour at Landcraft Garden Foundation in Mattituck, including its current exhibition, "Sculpture in the Garden 2023: Virginia Overton," organized by the artist Ugo Rondinone. A visit to Mr. Rondinone's private gardens and studio will follow at 3:30.

The trip will conclude on Shelter Island, where, at 5:30, Margaret Garrett will host a visit to her studio and discuss works inspired by her residency at The Church in February. Beachfront drinks will be on offer.

All-inclusive tickets are $500 for boat travelers, $450 for those taking the bus. Discounts will be offered to members and directors circle/innovators. For both categories of members, a discount promo code will be provided by email.

For the New York trip, The Church has teamed up with Sag Harbor's John Jermain Memorial Library. Departure from The Church will be at 8 a.m., with arrival at the Whitney expected by 10:30. Sheri Pasquarella, The Church's executive director, will lead two guided tours of the exhibitions.

A lunch break, not included in the ticket price, will happen at 1. At 2, guests will head by bus or the High Line to the Miles McEnery Gallery on West 22nd Street, for a 2:30 tour by Ms. Gornik of "The Other Side," her solo show there. Free time will follow until 5, when the bus will depart from the gallery for Sag Harbor.

Tickets, at $125, include admission to the Whitney and snacks on the bus ride.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
