A Native American detective encounters a supernatural entity in Ginew Benton's film "Mirror Man."

Street Dance
FlexN, a form of street dance characterized by pausing, snapping, gliding, hat tricks, and contortion, has evolved from the brukup style of Jamaican street dance. Cal Hunt, who performed the dance at The Church in Sag Harbor in January, will return to the venue on Saturday from noon to 2 to lead an introductory-level workshop on the history, development, and style of FlexN. Mr. Hunt has practiced that style for the past 14 years.

The workshop will include a lecture and detailed group instruction on the form and style of the dance. Because participants will be in motion through the session, sneakers and comfortable clothing have been recommended. The workshop is open to ages 16 and up. Tickets are $35.

Native Themes
The work of Ginew Benton, an Ojibwe filmmaker, explores the barrier between the natural and the spiritual. The Southampton Cultural Center will screen three of Mr. Benton's films on Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. with "Shells of Wisdom, Lessons From Ajijaak," and continuing at 6:30 with "Mirror Man" and "The Dim."

Heather Henson, the daughter of Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets, will introduce "Shells of Wisdom," an Indigenous-themed story featuring puppets by Ms. Henson and accompanied by live Native American song and dance. Tickets are $20.

In "Mirror Man," a Native police officer is met by a supernatural entity when she is called in to investigate a possible burglary. "The Dim" is a science-fiction psychological thriller. Tickets are $25. A reception with the filmmaker will take place at 6.

Solo Guitar to Disco
John Scofield, an innovative jazz guitarist with three Grammy Awards and more than 40 recordings to his credit, will perform at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead Thursday evening at 8. Mr. Scofield's music draws from bebop, blues, jazz-funk, acoustic chamber jazz, organ jazz, and electronically tinged groove. Tickets range from $35 to $65.

The theater will pivot on Saturday evening at 8 to That 70s Band, whose repertoire includes funk and disco classics from the Commodores, KC and the Sunshine Band, the Bee Gees, the Village People, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and many others. Tickets are $45.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
