Native Culture
Guild Hall, the artists Wunetu Wequai Tarrant and Christian Scheider, and the Padoquohan Medicine Lodge have received an Artist Employment Program grant of $407,800 from Creatives Rebuild New York. Guild Hall will disperse the funds to support its collaboration with the artists and the medicine lodge, including artists’ salaries and benefits, for two years.

As Guild Hall Community Artists-in-Residence, Ms. Tarrant and Mr. Scheider will further develop the ongoing work of the First Literature Project. Its mission is to support the preservation of indigenous stories, culture, and language, by creating a new, immersive platform that uses modern technology to engage the wider public through partnership with tribal organizations and cultural institutions.

The project will work closely with the Shinnecock community through its medicine lodge, a nonprofit organization that supports the needs of Shinnecock people and advocates for the protection of ancestral lands and ancient burial grounds.

Dogs, Trees, Puppets
LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton will get a jump on Halloween on Saturday with programs for dogs, families, and tree buffs. Dogs have been invited, preferably in costume, to romp on the venue’s great lawn between 10 a.m. and noon. The event is presented with the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, and canine treats will be available.

Holger Winenga, LongHouse’s horticulturalist, will lead three 90-minute tours of the most majestic trees on the property, including coastal redwoods, gingkos, dawn redwoods, and others. The tours, presented with the Southampton Arts Center as part of its current “A Celebration of Trees” exhibition, will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Megan Chaskey, a Sag Harbor poet, musician, and educator, will present “The Holy Man’s Garden Puppet Show” at 3 p.m. The performance is included in the price of admission.

Classical Piano
The Salon Series at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will conclude its fall programs with a performance by Wynona Wang, a Chinese pianist, on Friday evening at 6.

Born in Beijing and based in New York City, Ms. Wang has performed with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Meadows Symphony Orchestra of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and at festivals in Texas, New York, and Calgary, Canada.

Her top honors include the Meadows Concerto Competition, the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition in Japan, and the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Ukraine.

Tickets are $25, $15 for members and students.

Rocking Halloween
The Masonic Music Series will throw a Halloween party with the Roses Grove Band at Sag Harbor's Masonic Temple on Saturday at 8 p.m. Accompanied by ghosts, skeletons, and witches in the building's Inner Sanctum, the band will jam the music of the Grateful Dead.

Tickets, which support local charities, are $20.

Silent Disco
The Southampton Arts Center will hold a Halloween silent disco, under the stars on its west lawn, on Friday evening from 7 to 11. Quiet Events will provide three-channel LED-style headphones that not only allow guests to change channels to different types of music, but also light up in different colors.

A contest for best costumes will be held. Tickets are $15, $10 for members, $5 for children 12 and under.
