Anderson and McBride Livestream
For those unable to score $500 tickets for Laurie Anderson and Christian McBride’s sold-out concert in Guild Hall’s garden on Saturday evening, there is a consolation prize: The performance will stream live at 8 p.m.

Ms. Anderson, an award-winning visual artist and innovative musician, and Mr. McBride, a six-time Grammy-winning bassist and composer, will be joined by Rubin Kodheli on cello.

The three previously partnered for a 2017 performance at Manhattan’s Town Hall that was cited by Giovanni Russonello in The New York Times as one of the best live jazz performances of the year. “For an hour she played brightly articulated violin and affecting synthesizer harmonies in light-footed exchange with her new compatriots, pausing here and there to deliver deadpan stories of childhood and unsettling reflections on the abuse of power,” he wrote.

Tickets, which can be bought on Guild Hall’s website, are $20 per household.

Bruce the Shark and HooDoo in Southampton
The proliferation of sharks in South Shore waters has not prevented the Southampton Arts Center from continuing one of its Labor Day weekend traditions. In partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival, the arts center will hold its annual free outdoor screening of Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” tomorrow evening at 8, with a rain date set for Sunday.

On Saturday, the HooDoo Loungers, known as the East Coast’s New Orleans Party band, will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. on the center’s west lawn. The nine-piece band’s blend of original music and rearranged classics draws from traditional New Orleans jazz and brass band music, classic R&B, and funk.

Advance reservations have been strongly recommended for both programs. Reservations for the film will be honored until 7:45, for the concert until 5:45, after which standbys will be admitted. Guests have been advised to take chairs or blankets.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
