Nivola’s New York Projects

“Nivola in New York: Figure in Field,” the first-ever exhibition devoted to Costantino Nivola’s public artworks built in New York City, is on view at the Arthur A. Houghton Jr. Gallery at Cooper Union in Manhattan through March 15.

The show consists of maquettes and sculptures, original drawings, site-specific photographs, and related ephemera, as well as a timeline covering 62 projects made in collaboration with architects over 40 years by Nivola, who lived in Springs from 1948 until his death in 1988.

Eric Dever Paintings

“Eric Dever: A Thousand Nows,” a show of 22 new paintings inspired mostly by the East End, will be on view at the Lyceum Gallery at Suffolk County Community College’s Riverhead campus from Saturday through March 11. A reception set for Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. will include a conversation at 4:30 with Helen Harrison, director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center.

By layering veils of color, Mr. Dever creates the illusion of depth in paintings that reflect the atmosphere of Montauk Point, Sag Harbor’s Clam Island, Southampton’s Flying Point Beach, and his own garden in Water Mill.

Really, really big.
