A Holiday Opera

The Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island will perform “A Gilbert and Sullivan Christmas Carol” at the Old Whalers Church in Sag Harbor on Sunday afternoon at 3. Gayden Wren, who will direct the production and play the role of Scrooge for the first time, also wrote the book and lyrics, which were inspired by the lyrics of W.S. Gilbert and set to the tunes written by Arthur Sullivan.

Since its world premiere in 1994, the play has had a successful Off Broadway production, which The New York Times called “extremely funny” and The New Yorker described as “the old tale newly interesting — and a lot more fun.” Those familiar with Gilbert and Sullivan will recognize such transformations as that of “Three Little Maids From School” into “Three Little Ghosts for Scrooge.” Stephen O’Leary is the music director, Martin Fuller the narrator, and Thomas Z. Shepard the pianist.

Tickets are $25, $15 for children 12 and under, and can be purchased online through eventbrite.com or at the church office today and tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Big Karma in Sag

Big Karma, an East Hampton band dedicated to the music of such iconic groups as the Allman Brothers and Sly and the Family Stone, will perform on Saturday at 8 p.m. as part of the Wamponamon Masonic Music Series at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum.

Founded in May 2016, the band consists of Josh LeClerc, Andrew Winthrop, Jackson Clark, Gage Lynch, and Sage Gibbons. Tickets are $20, and proceeds support local charities.

Free Sing-Along

Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor will host a free sing-along tomorrow evening from 7:30 to 9. Valerie diLorenzo, a singer, actor, and cabaret performer familiar to audiences in New York City and on the East End, will lead an evening of seasonal carols, hot cider, and a reading of “ ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The community event is open to all ages, and reservations are not necessary.
