Abstraction at Folioeast

“In the Abstract,” a show of six East End artists known for their abstract work on canvas and paper, will open at Folioeast at 55 Main Street in East Hampton with a reception on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and remain on view through Jan. 16.

The show will include paintings, collage, and mixed-media work in a variety of sizes by Roisin Bateman, Diane Englander, Nicholas Howey, Janice Stanton, Amy Wickersham, and Gus Yero.

Two at Ille Arts

“Little Village/Small Town,” paintings by Don Christensen and ceramics by Elizabeth Levine, will be at Ille Arts in Amagansett from today through Jan. 4. A reception will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The gallery will be turned into an environment populated by Ms. Levine’s fanciful imaginary creatures and Mr. Christensen’s paintings on wood of dwellings and cityscapes. The show will be the gallery’s last at the Amagansett location.

“Winter Landscapes”

MM Fine Art in Southampton is celebrating the season with “Winter Landscapes,” a large group exhibition that will run from Saturday through Jan. 19. Participating artists are Rainer Andreesen, Stephanie Brody-Lederman, Terry Elkins, Cornelia Foss, Sean Friloux, Susan Grossman, Bruce Lieberman, Michael Meehan, Jon Mulhern, Daniel Sprick, and others.

Holiday Show

RJD Gallery in Bridgehampton is showing work by Margo Selski, Juan Bejar, Rachel Moseley, Frank Oriti, Jackee Sandelands-Strom, Matt R. Martin, and Jantina Peperkamp from Saturday through Dec 31.

Small, framed limited-edition hand-signed prints by Andrea Kowch will also be on view, as will a new line of 300-piece jigsaw puzzles of several of her paintings. Most of the artworks are small and can be purchased and wrapped to go.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
