Garden Fair Time in Bridge

Thu, 05/16/2019 - 17:56
The Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons Garden Fair begins with a benefit preview cocktail party on Friday.

The Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons will hold its 33rd annual Garden Fair at the Bridgehampton Community House this weekend, starting Friday with a preview party from 6 to 8 p.m. and continuing with a plant sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Preview guests will have the first choice of rare and unusual plants and can participate in a silent auction of more than 50 unique planted containers created by alliance members and East End horticultural professionals. The evening will also include a raffle, wine, and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. Friends tickets, priced at $150 for two, enable early admission at 5. Saturday’s plant sale is free and open to the public.

At the preview party, the alliance will honor Charles Savage, a member since 1995 who has served on the board, led programming, and now volunteers in the horticultural library. An East Hampton resident, Mr. Savage is a retired architectural historian, author of a book on the architecture of St. Louis, and co-author, with Nina Gillman, of the nomination of the Amagansett Life-Saving and Coast Guard Station to the National Register of Historic Places. That designation was granted in 2018.
