The John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor has put out a call for candidates to run for its board in the Sept. 25 election and budget vote.

Candidates must be 18 years or older and registered voters in the Sag Harbor School District, and must hold a valid John Jermain card. Each must have a minimum of 25 signatures on a nominating petition from registered voters within the school district. Petitions must be submitted by Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. to the school district clerk, Mary Adamczyk, at Pierson Middle and High School.

Successful candidates will assist the director in creating policies and advocating for the library. Three board seats are open, each with a three-year term starting Jan. 1.

There will be a public hearing on Sept. 17 to review the proposed library budget and hear the candidates present their positions.

Voting hours on Sept. 25 will be 2 to 8 p.m. at the library. Absentee ballot applications in both English and Spanish are also now available. They can be picked up at Pierson during school business hours, from the library director, Kelly Harris, or the reference desk between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., or downloaded from the library website.
