With a final tally of 158 “yes” votes to 37 “no” votes, the East Hampton Library’s 2025 budget plan was approved by the community on Saturday.

The $3.89 million budget carries an estimated tax increase of $14.83 for the average household in the library district, which includes the East Hampton, Springs, and Wainscott School Districts. The increase was technically above the New York State cap on tax-levy increases, so the library needed at least 60-percent voter approval for its budget to pass.

“I think 81-percent approval is a resounding ‘yes,’ and we’re happy that the community appreciates the things that we’re doing and the programs and services we’ve been providing,” Dennis Fabiszak, the library director, said on Tuesday. “We look forward to continuing to enhance the physical spaces in the building, as well as the services that we’re making available to all ages.”
