Field of Thousands for Hamptons Marathon and Half-Marathon

More than 2,800 athletes descended on Southampton Village on a clear and virtually windless Saturday morning for the Hamptons Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K.

Of the 440 marathon finishers, Matthew Rabb, a 28-year-old from New York City, was the first runner over the line in 2:43:51. Derek Mauro, 41, of Pleasantville, N.Y., was next in 2:47:44, and Colin Lubner, 30, of Cape May, N.J., was third in 2:54:02. First in the wheelchair division (and the third person to cross the finish line) was Michael Larose, 34, of Bay Shore in 2:54:02. The top male finisher from the South Fork was Steven Sobey, 45, of Sag Harbor, the sixth runner across, in 3:01:40.

Among females, Ashley Reese, 28, of Panama City, Fla., finished first (and fifth over all) in 2:54:55. Katherine Jonas, who’s 39 and lives in Saint James, was second in 3:13:24, and Mary McKeon, 38, of East Moriches was next in 3:13:57. The top local female marathoner was Jessica Anzalone, 26, of East Hampton, who came over the line at 4:00:34.

An impressive 1,937 athletes finished the half. The winner was Jordan Daniel, 30, of Westhampton in 1:07:45. Among South Fork runners, David Reveman, 45, of East Hampton was tops (and third over all) in 1:17:25.

The winning female was Rebeka Stowe, 35, a New York City resident, in 1:22:20. Ava Horn, 23, of Southampton topped the field of South Fork women in 1:37:12, followed not far behind by Brigitte Harbers, 26, of Southampton and Tamara Gutierrez, 30, of East Hampton, both in 1:37:48.

There were 467 people running the 5K. Justin Lake, 25, of Cutchogue was the top male in 18:31, and Jennifer Ruffolo, 34, of New York was the winner among women, in 19:56.
