A bicycle taken from outside the I.G.A. on Friday evening was recovered by police soon after. The bike’s owner left it unattended for only a few minutes, she told police, and when she came back it was gone. About an hour later, officers spotted a man riding the missing bike near Old Montauk Highway in Montauk. Since the woman declined to press charges, police took him to the Montauk train station, where he said he would get on a westbound train.
East Hampton
A disagreement between employees of Serafina turned physical on Saturday night after one of them shoved the other and then left the restaurant. Police were summoned, but the victim said he did not wish to pursue charges.
On June 16, furniture being unloaded from the bed of a truck at the Oakview Highway mobile home property damaged a second truck, parked nearby.
An East Hampton real estate agent told police on June 15 that two people claiming to be shopping for a Wainscott property “seemed suspicious” to her, and may have been “impersonating” the actual buyers.
After reporting suspicious people in her driveway, an Oyster Pond Lane woman told police on June 17 that they might have been neighbors who sometimes use her driveway as a shorter path to their house.
East Hampton Village
Multiple complaints about a half-naked Utah man begging on Main Street on Saturday ended in the man’s arrest. Police said the shirtless man, who told them he was homeless, was using racial slurs and profanity. He was asking for money to go to Chicago when arrested, and was charged with using obscene language in public and disorderly conduct, violations.
Two juveniles took off on June 9 with four beers from East Hampton Market on Race Lane. A store employee followed them through Herrick Park, stopped them, and called police. They handed over the beers and were not charged, but were asked not to return to the store. A parent picked them up.
A large putting green installed in front of Card Vault on Newtown Lane had to go, police said on Friday afternoon. They ticketed an employee for obstructing the sidewalk.
Police responded to a Lily Pond Lane house Friday following a call about a fox trapped on the property, but the animal proved slyer than expected, having found its own way out before they arrived.
Firefighters doused a fire in a Rolls-Royce on Terbell Lane June 12 and moved the car to the owner’s house.
A driver who’d been beaten to a parking spot in the Reutershan lot Friday smacked the hood of a local woman’s truck after an angry exchange of words. He was gone when an officer arrived.
The driver of a BMW left the scene after crashing into a Honda parked on Newtown Lane last Thursday. The Honda driver tried to stop her but was unsuccessful. She was able, however, to provide a video to police, who tracked the woman down and cited her for leaving the scene of an accident.
Police issued over a dozen tickets last week for noise violations to landscapers found mowing, leaf blowing, and weed whacking during prohibited hours and days.
A Westhampton Beach woman was ticketed for hosting an event at Main Beach last Thursday without a large-crowd permit.
Montauk
On Sunday night, police conducting sting operations in bars arrested employees of three establishments for serving alcohol to minors. An under-age agent had ordered drinks, and received them, without being asked for identification.
While waiting for pizza at 2 a.m. on Sunday, an oral disagreement outside Pizza Village turned into a physical fight, and someone called police. Several people fled the scene when officers arrived, but they were able to speak with one man who’d been injured in the fracas. He had scrapes to his elbow and back but refused medical attention. A search for the assailants was not successful.
A local man who spotted smoke coming from his neighbors’ Gravesend Avenue house late on the night of June 16 awakened the neighbors and led them out of the burning house. Police said everyone was safe when they arrived, and the Montauk Fire Department put out the flames. East Hampton Town fire marshals determined that the fire started in a shed behind the house, where a pool pump and a washer and dryer were stored.
The day before, firefighters doused a brush fire on Glenmore Avenue. An arcing electrical line was to blame, according to police.
Sag Harbor
A case of road rage was reported on June 13. A woman told police she’d confronted a man about parking his yellow Porsche in a handicapped-accessible space at the Hampton Street service station without the required placard, and he’d yelled curses at her. When she left, he followed her car to Harrison Street, she said, all the while yelling obscenities and shouting for her to pull over. He then swerved around her car, turned facing it, and sped toward her, veering away at the last moment. Police said they were able to locate the Porsche later, but not the driver.
No one was injured when the yacht “Well Adjusted” struck a rock after passing the breakwater on the morning of June 13. The boat was taking on water but was able to be hauled to Sag Harbor Yacht Club for repairs.
Kids jumping off a dock on Long Wharf on June 16 may have damaged a ladder there, police said.
Both the village harbormaster and Marine 6 out of Southampton responded to reports of an overturned Hobie Cat on Friday. The operator was found safe and on shore, with his boat, in Redwood.
A group of people sharing a six-pack of Modelo beer at a picnic table in Steinbeck Park on Saturday afternoon were advised that drinking in public is not permitted. They threw away their trash and left the area.
An Uber driver flagged down a police officer at 2 a.m. on June 14 because his fare would not leave his van after they arrived at the agreed-upon drop-off. The woman in the van did eventually get out there, on Division Street, where police said she was picked up by another Uber.
Police helped a man recover his mobile phone after it fell into a storm drain on Division Street on June 10.
A woman reported on June 12 that while walking with her daughter and niece on Long Island Avenue, a woman driving by, “in her 50s with blond hair,” asked her how old her baby was and followed the group before turning onto Bridge Street.
A Bayview Avenue man told police seven cases of bottled water had gone missing from the end of his driveway on Friday morning.
Officials at the Old Whalers Church were notified last Thursday of a possibly dangerous rotten tree on the property. A woman said she’d heard “a creaking sound” coming from the tree while walking by.

An Audi parked overnight on Harbor Boulevard was damaged to the tune of $600 last Thursday night. The owner told police the back window had been shattered and it appeared someone had tried to break the driver’s-side window.
