Footage of Justin Timberlake's adjudicated June 2024 drunken-driving arrest in Sag Harbor will be released imminently, according to court documents filed today by the pop star's lawyers.
On March 3, Mr. Timberlake's Sag Harbor lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., asked police not to release what has been described as more than eight hours of video footage that includes a field sobriety test and subsequent arrest. Sag Harbor officials had been poised to release the video, which had been requested through the Freedom of Information Law. Numerous media outlets had made the request.
Michael Del Piano, another of Mr. Timberlake's attorneys, filed an Article 78 lawsuit against the Village of Sag Harbor, the Sag Harbor Police Department, and Chief Robert Drake individually in State Supreme Court to block the public from seeing the videos. In the suit, he asked the court to issue a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the village.
Justice Joseph Farneti signed off on the restraining order on March 5, but lifted it today when Mr. Timberlake and Vincent Toomey, the attorney for the village, agreed to release a redacted version of the footage.
Earlier this week, Mr. Toomey indicated that the parties had come to an agreement, marking an end to any courtroom battles.
