Pulled Over Outside a School

Thu, 01/22/2026 - 12:29

A driver who bystanders said appeared intoxicated was arrested outside the Springs School on the afternoon of Jan. 12 and charged with drunken driving.

Jared C. Crozier of Springs, 35, was reportedly waiting “outside” the school’s student pick-up line when police arrived. He appeared to have glassy eyes and slurred speech, according to the report, was unsteady on his feet, and smelled of alcohol.

The initial charge against him, misdemeanor D.W.I., was raised to the felony level when officers discovered that he’d been convicted in 2020 of the same offense.

Mr. Crozier was arraigned the next day by East Hampton Town Justice David Filer, who released him on his own recognizance with a future date in Justice Court.

Police made another felony arrest for driving while intoxicated in Springs later that night after spotting Jonnathan F. Quintana-Lucero speeding on Accabonac Road.

Mr. Quintana-Lucero, 25, was close to his Hildreth Place house when he was clocked at 50 miles per hour, well over the 30 m.p.h. limit, and crossing the double yellow lines multiple times. He had been convicted in 2023 of D.W.I., making the charge a felony. He was held for a morning appearance before Justice Filer, who released him on his own recognizance with instructions to be back in court in the future.

Also on the roads last week, a man police say has had his driver’s license revoked 14 times was arrested on felony charges.

Elvis Rojas-Rojas of Springs, 26, was pulled over on Friday when an officer noticed an expired inspection sticker. After a closer look, police said, he was found to have failed to show up to court on five separate matters, leading to 13 suspensions of his license. The 14th was imposed after he allegedly failed to pay the relevant fees.

Mr. Rojas-Rojas was arraigned on a felony charge of aggravated unlicensed driving with five or more suspensions. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to Justice Court on Wednesday.
