Police Identify Victim as Homicide Investigation Continues

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday — The Suffolk County medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy and determined that Martha Nolan-O'Slattara's body "did not show evidence of violence and her final cause of death is pending further examination," Suffolk police said on Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: 9:15 p.m. Tuesday — Suffolk County police have identified the woman found dead on a boat docked at the Montauk Yacht Club on Tuesday as Martha Nolan-O'Slattara, a 33-year-old from Manhattan.

The 911 call came in to East Hampton Town police about midnight, Suffolk police said in a release. Good Samaritans attempted to perform CPR, but first responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to police, Ms. Nolan-O'Slattara's cause of death was listed as "inconclusive" after a preliminary investigation took place; an autopsy will be performed by the county medical examiner.

Suffolk's homicide detective squad is asking anyone who may have information on the matter to contact them at 631-852-6392.

ORIGINALLY, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday — A woman was found dead on a boat docked off Star Island Road in Montauk before dawn on Tuesday, according to Suffolk County police.

In a statement, the Suffolk County Public Information Office said the call came in around 4 a.m. “The woman’s cause and manner of death have yet to be determined,” the agency said.

Police have released no further details on the case. This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.

No crime was committed on Aug. 12 on Front Street in Springs, where police responded to a report that a man was holding a shotgun. Police said it was in fact a BB gun, which the man told them he uses to scare off squirrels and other small animals.
