Rear-End Crashes in the Village

Thu, 08/14/2025 - 09:28

A Sag Harbor woman was injured on the afternoon of Aug. 6 after a westbound Mercedes sedan rear-ended her Jeep on Montauk Highway near Green Hollow Road.

The driver of the Mercedes, Marquis K. Hayes of Seattle, 45, told East Hampton Village police he'd dropped his seltzer bottle and driven into the back of the Jeep while trying to recover it. The Jeep's driver, Elizabeth Grace Robbins, 23, complained of head pain and was transported by village ambulance to the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department for treatment.

Mr. Hayes was not injured.

Three vehicles were involved in a collision on Montauk Highway near Jericho Road around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Victor Manuel Deleg Salinas of Manorville, 51, who was driving a Mercedes S.U.V., told village police he hadn't realized how close he was to the  Hyundai sedan ahead of him, and had not looked up until just before rear-ending it. Its driver, Axel Yvan Laynes of Bay Shore, 64, stated that the shock propelled his car into the Honda S.U.V. in front of him, which was driven by Anielka Molina Toruno of East Hampton, 30.

Both S.U.V.s sustained some damage but did not require towing, and neither of their drivers was injured. The Hyundai driver, Mr. Laynes, and his passenger, Angela Polansky, 56, were not so lucky; both complained of neck and back pain and were taken for treatment to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Their car sustained damage to its front and back ends and was towed by Rapid Recovery.

Motorcyclist Injured After Rear-Ending Car
