S.U.V.s Collide, Three Hurt

Thu, 07/10/2025 - 10:07

There were numerous minor fender-benders on local roads in the runup to the big holiday weekend, but only one was reported to have resulted in injuries.

At around noon on July 2, two S.U.V.s collided at the intersection of Town Lane and Jenny’s Path in East Hampton. John Kalbacher of Each Hampton, 67, driving a Ford S.U.V., told town police he had driven into the intersection from Jenny’s Path after waiting at the stop sign, and struck a Toyota S.U.V. driven by Andrew McInnes of Brooklyn, 41, which then spun off the road and into the stop sign and a street sign.

Mr. McInnes said that he had been driving along Town Lane and that Mr. Kalbacher had failed to yield the right of way.

Mr. Kalbacher complained of chest pain, while Mr. McInnes reported feeling pain throughout his body, and his 8-year-old passenger told police his head hurt. All three were transported by ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

The front end of the Ford was damaged, and the Toyota sustained damage all along the driver’s side. Both vehicles were towed by Rapid Recovery.
