Police: She Could Not Stop

A two-car accident on Route 114 left two people injured last week.

Leidy Chavez Alfaro of Southampton, 42, who was northbound in a pickup truck, told East Hampton Town police she was unable to stop to avoid a collision with Mauricio Nieto Nieto, who was waiting to make a left turn onto Red Fox Lane.

Mr. Nieto, 38, of East Hampton, confirmed her version of events. Both were transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Ms. Chavez Alfaro to be treated for neck pain and Mr. Nieto for severe lacerations to his head.

Neither driver was ticketed.

A man caused a disturbance at the 7-Eleven in Montauk around 4 a.m. on Monday, an employee reported to police, saying that the man “partially ate” two Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches before putting them back on the counter and refusing to pay.
