'Dangerous' Glare

Thu, 08/27/2020 - 09:36

Lina Lopez-Alvarez, 29, of Springs failed to dim the headlights of her black 2008 Ford at 4 a.m. Saturday, causing a "dangerous glare" for oncoming traffic, according to East Hampton Town police. She was pulled over on Springs-Fireplace Road near Abraham's Path in East Hampton and found to have her own vision obscured as well, police said, by something hanging from the rearview mirror.

Asked to exit the car, Ms. Lopez-Alvarez was unsteady on her feet, according to the report, and showed several other signs of intoxication. After failing roadside sobriety tests she was held for the rest of the night for an appearance in East Hampton Town Court. Justice Steven Tekulsky released her on her own recognizance to await a future court date.

Drivers, Cyclist Were Hurt

Four people were assessed by responders from the Montauk Fire Department, but declined further treatment, after they were struck by a woman trying to park her Honda sedan near the Montauk Brewing Company. Also in Montauk, a Volvo S.U.V. struck an e-bike on Main Street, resulting in injuries to the 13-year-old bicyclist.
