Amagansett

The manager of a vacant Town Lane property, owned by Randy Lerner and slated for demolition, reported two men trespassing at about 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 21. They ran away when Fred Friedler confronted them. He told police he was concerned that people using a nearby trail off Stony Hill Road would continue to intrude.

East Hampton

A 17-year-old girl went to the East Hampton High School resource officer on Dec. 4 to report that she has been receiving harassing messages through her Instagram account since October. She said the messages, from an unknown person, were annoying at first, but over the last 24 hours they had become disturbing and threatening. Police advised her to make her account private.

Timothy Egan found multiple scratches on his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado on the night of Dec. 21. The car was parked along Wireless Road by his mother’s house at the time. There was no word on the repair costs.

On Dec. 20 or 21, graffiti were spray-painted in black on a 2018 Honda Civic parked in a driveway at the corner of Muir Boulevard and Three Mile Harbor Road. Byron R. Conce Rodas told police he has not had any problems recently and did not know why someone would damage the car,  which is registered to his brother-in-law, Juan D. Guamannieves, who was out of town.

East Hampton Village

Obscenities were found on Dec. 23 scratched into the side wall of a slide at the Herrick Park playground.

A shopper at Stop and Shop found an iPad inside his cart on Tuesday. Police tried to turn it on, but there was no power. The item is being held in the temporary property locker at headquarters.

Train Hits Landscaping Truck, Halting Service

Train service out of Southampton was temporarily suspended Wednesday after an eastbound train hit a landscaping vehicle in Bridgehampton.
