Amagansett

Juan Mejia-Lopez went to police back in October, saying that his brother-in-law owes him more than $7,500 and he wants to press charges if he does not get his money. Police called the man, who said he would stop by to make good on the debt and then hung up the phone.

East Hampton Village

On Dec. 16 just after 10 p.m., during a traffic stop on North Main Street, the driver’s side window of a 2009 Acura was shattered. Police are not sure how it happened, though the driver suggested it could have been some combination of the heat in the car and the cold outside.

Pieces of carpet and broken wood furniture were found in the road on Main Street last Thursday around 5:20 p.m. An officer removed the debris from the roadway and notified the Highway Department to pick it up from the shoulder.

Sag Harbor

A sign with a picture of a squirrel on it,  at the end of the story walk trail in Mashashimuet Park, went missing sometime before Dec. 17. Dai Dayton of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt said the sign had been placed there a week earlier. It was worth $35.

Did someone lose a Christmas card? An envelope with a card inside and a $20 bill was found on Main Street Saturday afternoon and turned in to police. The card thanked “Ricky and the entire North Haven Village staff.” A Sag Harbor Village officer dropped it off at North Haven Village Hall.
