One Drunken Driving Arrest

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:37

Colder weather and rain may be the explanation for a remarkably quiet week on the roads, with just one arrest on a drunken driving charge. Eric M. Peterson, 47, of Springs, was arrested by East Hampton Town police early Sunday after a traffic stop on West Lake Drive in Montauk. Failing roadside sobriety tests, he was taken to headquarters, where a breath test produced a reading of .19 of 1 percent, high enough to raise the misdemeanor charge to the aggravated level. He was released without bail later that morning.

Another Springs resident arrested over the weekend was Carol K. Damark, 41. During an altercation with her husband, Brian Damark, Saturday morning in their Gardiner Cove Road residence, police said she allegedly punched him in the face and threatened him with a 10-inch kitchen knife, saying she was going to kill him. She was charged with menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor, as well as a violation charge of harassment.

East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky released her without bail Sunday morning, citing her ties to the community, but not before issuing an order of protection for Mr. Damark. The order is crafted in such a way that the two can remain in the same house, with Ms. Damark being prohibited from any violent or threatening action against her husband.
