A Couple’s Volvo Vanishes

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:37

East Hampton Town police detectives are investigating the apparent theft of a beige 2010 Volvo XC90 midsize sport utility vehicle from the driveway of a couple’s house on Oyster Shores Road in East Hampton. Peter Jacob and Iris Fein told police they had last seen the Volvo late Saturday afternoon. It disappeared between then and a little after noon on Sunday.

Residents need to lock their doors and secure their property, Detective Sgt. Daniel Toia said on Tuesday. For the time being, he said, it seemed to be an isolated incident. Unable to locate the vehicle, town police notified other departments in the area, and it has been registered as stolen with the New York Statewide Police Information Network.

Because it is an ongoing investigation, Detective Toia would not comment as to whether the Volvo was locked or whether the keys had been left inside. Mr. Jacob and Ms. Fein valued it at $16,000.

Anyone with information about the disappearance has been asked to call East Hampton Town detectives at 631-537-7575.
