Residents of the East Hampton School District, as well as the parents of children from other districts who are educated in East Hampton schools, should pay attention to an ongoing discussion of millions in spending aimed at improving its buildings and sports facilities. The East Hampton School Board is preparing a $64 million borrowing plan that would be put to district voters in May. While the so-called sending districts do not get a vote, nearly all town taxpayers contribute to East Hampton via tuition charges. This means that residents both inside and outside the East Hampton district have an opportunity, if not an obligation, to pay attention.
The $64 million plan will be the subject of a school board meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the high school library. The session will be broadcast live on LTV. Adam Fine, the district superintendent, is reading comments from the public at adam.fine@ehschools. org. He said that no idea is ridiculous. Now is the time to make your thoughts known.
