Wed, 06/25/2025 - 17:11

Paid Notice: William James Lester of Westhampton Beach, and originally from Amagansett, died June 19th at the Cannas Hospice Center after a long courageous battle with respiratory illness.

William was born November 22, 1962 in Southampton to James and Kathryn Lester.

He enjoyed playing and building guitars, woodworking, taking his dog Attie to the beach and as a child fishing with his father, a commercial fisherman.

He was a beloved partner to Machelle Hanyo, and a cherished son, nephew, cousin, uncle, dad and friend to many.

The morning of June 19th, The Tern sailed again. The skies were bright, the sea was calm. Jimmy and Kathy set off on a final voyage. William was waiting on the dock for this, his last sail! As the sun rose on the horizon, he boarded, surrounded by the love of his family.

They set sail into a new sunrise. “Fair winds and following seas” .

His kind soul, sense of humor and selflessness touched many, he will be so very deeply missed. Finest Kind!
