Anthony Granitto

Thu, 06/19/2025 - 09:11

Paid Notice: Anthony Granitto passed away shortly after midnight on May 30th, 2025 due to sudden respiratory failure. He was 63 years old. He was born July 9th, 1961 to Joseph and Anna Granitto in Huntington, New York. He grew up in Kings Park with his brother, Joseph Paul Granitto; and throughout the entirety of his life always spoke with immense fondness of his childhood home.

He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 1983 with a degree in economics. After living back on the island for a few years, he moved to East Hampton in 1987, where he met his wife Laurie Granitto, formerly Laurie Edwards. They married October 13th, 1990. In March of 1993 they welcomed a son, Paul Joseph Granitto, who joined Anthony’s stepdaughters Jennifer and Jacqueline Wood from Laurie’s first marriage.

For many years he worked for Hamptons Mortgage Corporation, and then most recently for PAR East Mortgage Company.

Anthony’s passions and interests were greatly varied. He loved astronomy; and would often venture out at night with his telescope, gazing at the different planets, stars, constellations and galaxies. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking, and the basement of his home was frequently the grounds of one project or another. He owned many guitars, and spent hours playing, listening to and talking about music. He loved fishing, hiking, and the outdoors in general; and as time passed, his two greatest hobbies were undoubtedly kayaking and golfing. One of his favorite places in the world was New Orleans, where he’d been to on multiple occasions. In April of this year, he was able to travel there one last time, enjoying a wonderful week with his wife, his son, and his son’s girlfriend.

He leaves behind his wife, Laurie, his son Paul, and his step daughters Jennifer and Jacqueline. He also leaves behind his brother Joseph, his niece Alison, and four grandchildren; Nicholas, Noah, Lilly and Jace, along with many other loving family members.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
