Dec. 3, 1949 - Nov. 21, 2025

Vincent P. Balcuns Jr. of Springs, who for more than 50 years was the owner of Balcuns Service Center, an Amagansett automobile repair shop, died in his sleep on Nov. 21. He was 75.

Mr. Balcuns was a past president of the Montauk Friends of Erin and the Montauk Point Lions Club, and was a member of Post 419 of the American Legion in Amagansett for many years.

Born at Southampton Hospital on Dec. 3, 1949, to Vincent Paul Balcuns and the former Gwenette Reeves, he grew up in Montauk and graduated from East Hampton High School. He served in the Navy with the Seabees, the Naval Construction Force that builds and fights to support naval and military operations.

His marriage to Linda Lenz, in October 1969, ended in divorce.

Mr. Balcuns is survived by a son, Michael P. Balcuns of Daytona Beach, Fla., two stepsons, Michael Davis of East Hampton and Thomas Davis of Manorville, and five grandchildren: Summer and Charlie Davis, both of East Hampton, and Christopher, Faye, and Michael Davis, all of Manorville. Amy Davis of East Hampton, Mr. Balcuns’s best friend and soulmate of almost 20 years, his family said, also survives, as do two brothers, Jimmy Balcuns and Donald Balcuns, both of Montauk.

A son, Steven Balcuns, died before him, as did a grandson, Tyler Balcuns, and his brothers Alfred Balcuns, Richard (Zeke) Balcuns, and Ronald Balcuns.

A graveside service, followed by burial, was held on Saturday at Fort Hill Cemetery in Montauk, the Rev. Liam McDonald officiating. A reception at the American Legion Hall followed.
