Paid Notice: David W. McElroy, a beloved husband, brother, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 23, 1940, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, David’s early years were marked by a move to East Hampton, New York, in 1946, a community that would become the heart of his life’s story.

David was a proud graduate of East Hampton High School, where he forged lifelong friendships and developed a deep appreciation for the close-knit town he called home. He went on to attend St. Lawrence University, embracing new adventures and expanding his love of learning.

David was predeceased by his loving parents, William (Pat) McElroy and Mary Louise McElroy (Schenck), whose values and kindness shaped the man he became.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia McElroy (Peterson), with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. David’s memory will also be cherished by his sisters, Marjorie Grimmer and her husband Gerald, Marianne Latimer and her husband Howard, and his brother, Thomas McElroy and wife Christine. His children, Susan Bacarella and her husband Rosario, Douglas McElroy and his wife Julie, and Timothy McElroy — will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. David was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren. 

David’s warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit touched everyone he met. He was a steadfast presence for his family, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. His legacy will live on in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love that binds his family together.
