Elizabeth Browne Bennett

Paid Notice: Elizabeth (Beth) Browne Bennett, a longtime resident of East Hampton, peacefully left this life to be with The Lord on March 3, 2024. She passed away in her home in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Born October 8, 1935, to Jed H. Browne and Florence Browne of East Hampton, Beth lived most of her life in East Hampton. She graduated from East Hampton High School in 1953, and attended SUNY Morrisville to study nursing. She married Charles J. Sheehan of Watertown, Mass., in December 1953 and they had three children together. 

Beth was an active member of her community and was a long time member of the Presbyterian Churches of East Hampton and Amagansett. She loved playing golf, playing the organ, and loved flowers, working at Buckley’s Florist making beautiful arrangements. She was also a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Beth married James V. Preiato of Brooklyn in November 1984 and later married Marvin F. Bennett of East Hampton in December 1992. Marvin predeceased Beth in January 2010. Beth moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2010 to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather, and then moved to Blacksburg, Va., in 2020 to be closer to her children. She is survived by her sister, Addie (Becky) Bistrian, brother David (Buzzy) Browne, her three sons Jed A. Sheehan, Charles J. Sheehan Jr., and Gerald D. Sheehan, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Yardley’s Funeral Home at 6-8 PM, October 18th, and a memorial service will be held at Cedar Lawn Cemetery at 11:30 on October 19th with reception following at Springs Fire Department.
