Joseph P. Houston

Joseph P. Houston, the owner of a wallboard and spackling business, died of heart failure on June 16 at home on Shelter Island. He was 65.

Born on March 17, 1955, in Bayport to Howard Houston and the former Mary Fallon, he grew up there and graduated from Bayport-Blue Point High School. He married the former Christine Pagano, and the couple brought up two children in East Hampton, where he had had lived for more than 20 years. The marriage ended in divorce.

In his spare time, Mr. Houston enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Houston of Georgia and Jenna Sears of Maine, three brothers, Edward Houston of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Howard Houston and Thomas Houston, both of Manorville, and two sisters, Maureen Houston of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Cynthia Thompson of Warwick, R.I.

A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
