Dear Mr. Rattray,

What a delightful and unexpected surprise I had when I went to the Town Hall to renew my dump sticker and was met by several beautiful big photographs of the sea by the artist Jane Martin. I felt transformed. What a pleasant way to wait in line to get a permit, and I couldn’t help but make the connection that recycling, which goes on at the dump, helps keep the ocean beautiful and clean, as shown in the photographs. And I applaud the town for mounting such a beautiful exhibit in this public building.

At Its Best

Dear David,

It was East Hampton at its best on Saturday night at the Neighborhood House where the community came together to celebrate Cinquo de Mayo. This was the second annual fest, hosted and organized by the East Hampton Democratic Committee for the benefit of Project Most.

And what a celebration it was: A full house, toddlers to seniors, from every neighborhood in town. Games for the children, including an Easter egg hunt (which had been rained out) and prizes galore.

To the Editor:

I went to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons for a wonderful Passover Seder! On this holiday there is great focus on the children. Rabbi Joshua Franklin and Cantor Debra Stein did a most excellent job! I don’t recall ever being so entertained at a religious ceremony.

Debra’s outfits were dazzling, while the rabbi (also adorned in garments of splendor) made the evening festive.
