Thank you for the “Guestwords” on box turtles. Box turtles inhabit my property on the northwest corner of the intersection of Wainscott Hollow Road and Wainscott Main Street. I have encountered three so far this year including the one that came by today. They range from eight inches to two feet.
Democratic voters pushed back against East Hampton Reform Democrats' efforts to upend the Democratic Committee's picks for town justice and town trustee in Tuesday's primary, with Andrew Strong winning the justice nomination and Reform Democrats' choices trailing in the trustee race.
As the Montauk Historical Society looks ahead to two big projects at the Montauk Lighthouse — the $24 million rebuilding of the revetment protecting it from the ocean’s ravages and a tower renovation that could start as early as next year — a more modest renovation underway now is offering a glimpse of parts of one lighthouse structure not seen for nearly a century.
