To the Editor:

    As a member of the Windmill Village Affordable Housing group, it seems important to respond to the most recent letter put out by the Wainscott School Board. Windmill has proposed to build a 48-unit project for people who live and work in our community. The school board has objected to the project because it says that there will be a huge influx of children that will radically alter the Wainscott School.

    My husband and I would like to thank the Springs ambulance crew and the Springs Fire Department for the very rapid response to our home in the middle of the now infamous 2015 blizzard.

    Not only did the ambulance crew arrive promptly, but a group of volunteers arrived with them, armed with snow shovels to ensure our safe passage!

Dear David,

    Cries of joy were heard all over Bonac and beyond when the good news about the Springs General Store appeared in last week’s Star. The store is just as much a community landmark as is the Pollock-Krasner House, not just because Lee and Jackson shopped there. Under Kristi Hood’s outstanding stewardship, it’s a living monument to local enterprise, as well as the go-to place for great home cooking and local gossip.
