The upcoming East Hampton Village elections for mayor and two open board seats, scheduled to take place on June 16, will be delayed until Sept. 15 under an executive order issued on Friday.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has ordered a statewide postponement of village and local special-district elections, as well as school board elections and school budget votes. The latter will be delayed until June 9, and will be conducted by mail. All qualified voters will be sent an absentee ballot with a postage paid return envelope.

"We've made great progress to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus, but we still don't know when this pandemic will end, and we don't want to undo all the work we've already done to flatten the curve," Mr. Cuomo said in a statement announcing the order.
