The Alliance for Community Media Foundation on Monday awarded LTV a 2021 Hometown Media Award in honor of all the station does for community media, community radio, and local cable programs on its government and education public access channels.

LTV's first-place award in the entertainment and arts series category went to its "East End Underground" program, featuring East End musicians and directed, produced, and edited by numerous LTV staff members. In an announcement, LTV noted that the show, which can be seen on the LTV YouTube page or via ltveh.org, recently recorded its 50th performance.

“This is quite an honor, especially due to the fact that the program is evaluated by a panel of industry judges nationwide,” said Michael Clark, LTV’s executive director.

About 1,000 public access programs are entered for consideration each year and entries are evaluated on their creativity and how well they “address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way,” the release said. One hundred programs won awards in different categories.

"East End Underground is a great example of the talent out here," Mr. Clark said. "Not only does it highlight the musicianship but it also shows the work of the dedicated folks behind the scenes at LTV. This is a proud moment for us."
