Some Helpful Resources During the Virus Outbreak

Fri, 03/13/2020 - 14:09

Amid urgent concerns over the spread of COVID-19 here, locals can take advantage of several resources.

White's Apothecary delivers prescriptions. The East Hampton location, on Main Street, can be reached at 631-324-0082. There are also shops in Southampton and Sag Harbor. Delivery is often free.

Jennifer Reeves, who has owned the company Driving Distinction for 22 years, provides rides to doctor appointments, grocery stores, and elsewhere; prices vary. She also delivers prescriptions, operating in the Southampton, Sag Harbor, and Hampton Bays areas. Ms. Reeves's phone number for calls and text messages is 631-245-0161.

A similar transportation and delivery option is David Gribin of Hamptons Services, who operates between Southampton and Amagansett. He's at 631-897-5146 for calls or texts.

For a fee, groceries can be ordered online and delivered by King Kullen (kingkullen.com/shoponline) and Peapod by Stop and Shop, though delivery times may be delayed due to high customer volume.

And if you're in the mood for some classic comfort food — pizza — American Pie in the Bridgehampton Commons still offers local delivery. The fee is $3. The pizzeria's phone number is 631-613-6177.

Also in Bridgehampton, Open Minded Organics is offering fresh organic produce boxes for $100 on a pickup basis at its farm on Butter Lane. Those packing the boxes will be wearing gloves and masks, and payment is by credit card, so there will be no exchange of cash. Boxes include salad greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, berries, and radishes, among other produce. The number to call is 631-255-0990 on Sunday for pickup on Tuesday, with future deliveries possibly in the works.

The Hampton Coffee Company, which has shops in Southampton, Water Mill, and Montauk, has closed its locations for the time being but is offering free shipping on all merchandise ordered through its website, hamptoncoffeecompany.com.

The Sag Harbor Pharmacy is now offering free deliveries of prescriptions to area residents.

The CVS pharmacies in East Hampton and Southampton have announced free deliveries of prescriptions within one to two business days. Orders can be placed through CVS.com or the company's mobile app.

Further on deliveries, Park Place Wines and Liquors off the Reutershan Parking Lot in East Hampton says it has doubled its delivery capacity and loosened its requirements for minimum orders. Curbside pickup is now offered, too. Its website, parkplacewines.com, is taking orders, an app is available, and advice can be had over the phone or by emailing [email protected].
