East Hampton Town

Trevor Darrell has been appointed East Hampton Town’s prosecutor, and Brittany Toledano has been hired as deputy town attorney, both effective as of Monday, according to a statement issued from Town Hall this week.

Mr. Darrell will represent the town before Justice Court and the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication in code violation matters, and will assist with proceedings in Suffolk County Supreme Court, including those related to extreme risk protection orders, which temporarily prohibit individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others from buying or possessing firearms.

He was previously a Suffolk County assistant district attorney, with experience spanning criminal defense, real estate, land use, and municipal board representation. A lifelong resident of the town, he has held leadership roles in civic organizations including Project Most, the Bonac Booster Club, and the East Hampton Village Preservation Society.

“As someone who grew up here, raised my family here, and built my career here, it’s a privilege to support the town’s work and contribute to the place I’ve always called home,” Mr. Darrell said in a statement.

Mr. Darrell “brings a unique combination of legal skill and local insight to the role,” Jacob Turner, the town attorney, said. “I’m confident he will represent the town with professionalism, fairness, and a strong sense of justice.”

Ms. Toledano previously served as principal assistant county attorney in the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office, where she advised senior officials on land use, New York State Environmental Quality Review Act compliance, and environmental law. Her background also includes legislative drafting, labor investigations, and litigation support on significant public health matters.
