Coming Soon!

The biggest news for foodies this week is the announcement that the group that runs the Springs Tavern and Grill — Parioli Hospitality — will be opening a new restaurant at the East Hampton spot that was the longtime home of Rowdy Hall. To be called Lion’s Nook, it is expected to be open by early summer.

Alex Rossi, the founder of the popular Springs eatery, “will spearhead the new venture in partnership with Gary Fuhrman, a prominent entrepreneur and longtime village resident,” according to the press release announcing the venture. Joining them will be Raul Rodas as general manager and Fabian Rodas as executive chef, both from the Springs Tavern team.

The space, which had briefly been occupied and done over by the Village Bistro, will be renovated “to evoke a warm, classic English pub aesthetic,” according to the release. Mr. Rossi promises a menu that will “appeal to a wide audience, offered at approachable prices and complemented by thoughtful service.” The name is a nod to Lion Gardiner, one of the earliest English settlers here. The restaurant will be open year round.

Chowder House Is Open

Bostwick’s Chowder House on Pantigo Road in East Hampton opens Thursday for the 2026 season. Business hours are Thursday through Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Among the featured starters are baked stuffed clams; seared tuna with seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and spicy Asian and wasabi sauces; a raw bar sampler of oysters, clams, and shrimp cocktail, and homemade chowders and soups.

Main courses include fish and chips; seafood pasta with lobster, shrimp, scallops, penne, and sun-dried tomato cream sauce; fluke Milanese with a panko crust, topped with baby arugula, tomatoes, onions, and tossed with a lemon vinaigrette; sautéed crab cakes with remoulade sauce, vegetables, and rice or potato; blackened fish taco with mango salsa; tuna poke with rice, mango salsa, edamame, cucumbers, pickled ginger, wasabi cucumber sauce, and sesame seeds; a flounder sandwich with tartar sauce, and a lobster roll, cold salad or hot-buttered, with a choice of coleslaw, fries, potato salad, or potato chips.
