The Beacon Is Open

The Beacon in Sag Harbor is now open for its 27th season. Dinner service begins at 5:30, and reservations, which are recommended, can be made up to 10 days in advance.

Among the starters are shrimp tacos with salsa verde, pepper Jack cheese, and tomato emulsion; salmon rillette with capers, red onion, pickled jalapeño, and grilled baguette, and pork belly pretzel buns with hoisin, pickle, creamy kohlrabi slaw, and sriracha.

Entrees include vegan lasagna with zucchini, yellow squash, sun-dried tomato marinara, cashew ricotta, and basil oil; sesame-crusted tuna with soba noodles, napa cabbage and jicama slaw, and Asian glaze, and halibut baked in parchment with sun-dried tomatoes, tatsoi, and toasted Israeli couscous.

Oysters on the half shell and shrimp cocktail for happy hour at Bostwick’s on the Harbor.

Happy on the Harbor

Bostwick’s on the Harbor in Springs now has a happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 6:30 at the bar and in the lounge only.

Among the bar bites available are shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, little neck clams on the half shell, yellowfin tuna poke, crispy Buffalo cauliflower, chicken potstickers, lobster rolls, coconut shrimp spring rolls, truffle Parmesan fries, and harissa dip and chips. Drink specials include $6 draft beers, $12 select house wines, and $14 specialty cocktails.

The restaurant is open Thursday through Monday starting at 5, and will expand its hours in mid-June.

The Bird Takes Flight

The Bird in Montauk, formerly known as Bird on the Roof, is now open for brunch on weekends from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be open for dinner starting Memorial Day weekend.

Brunch service includes such familiar dishes as a soft scrambled egg sandwich, shakshuka, and “still not your Poppy’s pancakes.” Inspired by the travels in Asia and Mexico of Jake Pinkston, the chef, a new dinner menu will blend French technique with Japanese flavors. Dishes will include Kinoko Nabe, a Japanese hot pot layered with umami, and knuckle and claw, an homage to Montauk’s lobsters.

Tequila Dinner at Fresno

Fresno in East Hampton will host a five-course prix fixe dinner on Sunday at 6 p.m. Each course will be paired with a Tequila Casa Dragones. The evening will be led by Sandra Fernandez, one of Mexico’s most celebrated sommeliers and the education specialist for the Casa Dragones brand, and Jesus Gonzalez, Fresno’s executive chef, who comes from Chiapas, Mexico.

The first course includes oysters with Yuzu-Aji Amarillo mignonette; chile-charred shrimp, and tuna tartare with avocado and lime zest. It will be followed by grilled striped bass with a crisp blue corn tortilla, grilled pineapple tomatillo salsa, and huitlacoche crema.

Surf and turf is the third course, featuring seared sea scallop with grilled beef cecina, charred scallion oil, and relish. Course four is slow-braised beef short ribs adobo with grilled corn esquites, lime, and cotija. Dessert is bittersweet chocolate pot au crème with orange galleta.

The cost per person, including all tequila pairings, is $250.
