Two of the Amagansett's most anticipated events of the season are on the calendar this weekend. The Fire Department’s annual chicken barbecue is on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is $30 for adults and $20 for children. This popular event often sells out, so early arrival or advance purchase of tickets is a good idea.

And for shoe lovers, a sale anticipated for months is happening now through Aug. 24. The Shoe-Inn warehouse sale has returned to the American Legion Hall and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
