Kites for Kids

Kites for Kids, the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center’s summer kickoff, will happen on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Main Beach in East Hampton. Kites, which cost $15, can be reserved online at bit.ly/4wzLtyt or bought at the beach, where they can be decorated with stickers, ribbons, glitter, and markers. Decorated kites courtesy of Whitmore kids cost $50. All proceeds benefit the Whitmore Center. Those who attend the event can park for free, regardless of whether they hold village parking permits.

Ice Cream Social

The A La Mode ice cream shop will join East Hampton Library on Saturday from 1 to 3 for an ice cream party to launch the summer reading club. Readers from ages 2 to 18 can be part of the club, which offers rewards for reaching reading benchmarks. Registration is required through the library for Saturday’s party.

Pierson Creatives

The Church in Sag Harbor will have an opening reception next Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. for “Sag Harbor in Focus,” an exhibition of photographs by Pierson High School students, together with a fashion show featuring student designs.

The photo exhibition, featuring work done in Liz Cataletto’s photography classes, will be on view from Friday, May 29, through May 31 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The photographer Linda K. Alpern will serve as judge, choosing winning photos in each of eight categories.

The fashion show will highlight creations by Pierson students who took part in The Church’s 2026 fashion intensive with Mary Jane Marcasiano.

A reception will cap off next Thursday’s festivities.
